James Broadbent

James has a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Flinders University. He is AHPRA registered, a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), and is Clinically endorsed. James has worked in both private and government settings (CAMHS).

James is passionate about caring for and listening to people and brings his life experience and clinical expertise to help clients understand and develop their own solutions.

Areas of clinical interest include:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or general learning delay (accredited Autism SA diagnostician)
  • cognitive and learning difficulties (including assessments ie IQ, dyslexia)  
  • social problems (big feelings and behaviours)
  • depression, low self-esteem / lack of confidence
  • adolescent family violence
  • angry and frustrated (defiant) behaviours
  • eating concerns
  • traumatic stress and growth
  • risky behaviours (self-harm/suicidal behaviours) using a DBT-A approach.

Before becoming a clinical psychologist, James was a critical care nurse and managed a cardiac unit at Florida Hospital, Orlando, USA.

James has an MBA from Florida Institute of Technology and an Honours degree in Science from Southern College, Tennessee, USA.

This skill set enables him to form relationships with people and understand the importance of both physical and mental health.
